I had to confess I haven't taken Hector out for a proper walk for nearly a week. My wife embarks on a family trip with in-laws to China. I work long hours and I get lazy when I come home. It's a bad excuse, I know.
Sunday morning, I was supposed to work on my supplementary documents for the July RICS final interview. London can do heat and sun well too and today is one of these proud moment. My head was NOT thinking straight and lacking motivation. I took Hector out for a walk. I had the leash with me (I didn't use the leash, not because I trust my dog, I just can't be bothered!).
Hector usually runs lose (like a wild horse), sniffs around (and sniffs every passing pedestrian), picks up rubbish food residual (like we haven't fed it for a month). BUT today Hector walked side by side (next to me) for the entire walk, to my surprise. We have been trying to teach it to walk next to us (not walk around us in a 8 mile radius), for ages (at least 8 years) and it never seemed to bother obeying.
'Time' taught Hector well. Perhaps its 4x knees gave it away (every living thing will get old eventually, both man and dog) or the dog felt it should give its dog owner a quality treat as well. I kind of enjoy this new found comfort and had pride as a dog owner. We walked and enjoyed this summer morning together.
Don't worry, honey. Hector looks after me well when you are not home!
