倫敦達人 The Explorer

二零零九年四、五月看到劍橋大學在倫敦市區內辦一個EMBA的說明會。EMBA的課程是二十個月，每個月撥出一個星期五、星期六與星期日上課，學費聽說要四萬六英鎊以上。

聽說這是劍橋大學第一年開班收EMBA的學生，說明會是在倫敦的牛津與劍橋兩校聯合的招待會所（the Oxford and Cambridge Club，71 Pall Mall，London，SW1Y 5HD），津橋招待會所位於市中心很有名的一條街上，招待會所的建築物本身也具有幾百年歷史與名氣。當下就報了名，決心去觀摩一下這所招待會所、聽聽EMBA系主任有甚麼大道理要說。後來我與系主任聊了天後，系主任說他曾經在日本發展銀行待過。系主任說明了他教學理念、學校的名氣、設備、同學的實力與地位、課程內容．．．等等。我記得他提到了一位申請的學生是美國迪士尼樂園的首席法務顧問，而且美國迪士尼會每個月派飛機送他來上課。言下之意就是，這是他們要的學生的『最低標準』吧。

系主任說明結束後，就請了幾位EMBA教授與Cambridge MBA的現任學生一起與我們參加說明會的成員一起吃些茶點與紅酒之類的餐點。感覺是教授與學生對他們的教學能力與學習經驗感到非常地自傲。

後來我看了一下他的招生報名表上的Essay問題，在這裡寫出來讓大家分享一下：

• Describe your career progression to date. What have been the key milestones and/or turning points? What decisions and choices brought you to your current role? (Please do not exceed 300 words) 形容一下你的職業生涯。解釋一下職場裡的轉捩點。你做了甚麼重大的決定，才走到今天這一步。

• What are your short-term career goals? What skills and experience do you have that will help you achieve them? How will the Cambridge EMBA contribute to your attainment of your goals (Please do not exceed 300 words) 解釋你的短程目標，你有甚麼經驗與專長可以幫你達到你的短程目標？劍橋大學的EMBA可以如何幫你達到目的地？

• What is your long term career vision and how will an MBA help you to achieve it? (Please do not exceed 150 words) 你的長程目標是? MBA可以如何幫你達到你的目標？

• Personal - Activities and Interests – Which activity is most important to you and why? (please do not exceed 100 words) 甚麼活動對你來說最重要？為什麼？

• How would you like to be remembered? (400 words) 你想要如何被旁人記述？

• Leaders are born, not made, please discuss. (400 words) 領導者是天生的，不是被培訓出來的，請論述你的觀點。

• Why is the Cambridge Executive MBA the right programme for you? (400 words) 為什麼劍橋大學的EMBA是適合你的碩士課程？
