IMDb only gave it 4.5 out of 10, that's a bit harsh <- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0763831/
I'm not saying that it is an Oscar worthy firm, but as a family-all-watch-together-on-Friday-night type of movie, it is as good as a 8 out of 10!!! Let me tell you why..
Eddie Murphy usually speaks so much and so fast in all his movies. I'm sincerely impressed to watch him playing a character in a movie which he is only allowed to speak less than 1,000 words. Imagine, it must be a very thin manuscript (less than 5 pages too!!). His facial expression and performance did brilliant jobs. I appreciate the scene where Jakc McCall walked along the Pier and simply watched couples or families enjoy their family time, silently observing and appreciating what he missed when he was a teenager. I like the parts where he finally made peace with his father and forgave his father for not being there in his childhood. That was touching.
I'm also happy to see a Kiwi (or New Zealander) acting in the Hollywood firms. Cliff Curtis, a Rotorua Maori, made it to the big screen in the USA. Being a Kiwi myself, I'm super proud to see a Kiwi in this firm, however, the Indian accent can be further improved though (I'm not convinced totally). That's all I want to say about this firm today!!
Till next time!
