life-of-pi

Ang Lee's speech for the Best Director on stage (of Oscar 2013): "Thank you the movie God..".

Indeed, it was an increditable movie, it was an amazing Taiwanese director and we all felt proud. We thank you for your talent and hard working, it's a proud moment for TAIWAN!!

It is one of few very rare movies which I watched this year in cinema. (Apart from the Life of Pi, I watched Skyfall.) I think the movie "the Life of Pi" was worth every penny. The movie did more than what it said on the tin. I left the movie theatre not 100% fully understanding what it was all about. While I was enjoying the film - the child, the tiger and all other animals on the life boat. I genuinely thought I understood everything. It was only when the boy was explaining the whole event (the true story) to the two Japanese insurance people with a voice recorder. It altered me THEN that "maybe it wasn't as simple as I thought it was". So I left the cinema thinking "maybe I haven't grasped it all". The story was simple and yet it offered me the food for thought, allowing my mind/emotion a challenge or spare myself a moment to think/to reflect on what I saw and what I perceived to be and what's behind the story the little boy told.

It was an amazing story. Mr Ang Lee, you are a truly amazing director. (I'm also from Tainan City (where Ang Lee is from), Taiwan, you know! Very proud. Super proud.)

IMDB gave it a 8.2 out of 10: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0454876/?ref_=sr_1

I think it's a 9.5 out of 10!
