If a movie cast top British actors like Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson and Maggie Smith, this is bound to tell a good story.  Each one of the actors cast appear in the movie franchises like Daniel Craig's Bond 007 (Judi Dench), Love Actually & Pirates of Caribbean (Bill Nighy), Batman Begins & Mission Impossible 4 (Tom Wilkinson) and Harry Porter's franchise (Maggie Smith).  They are all the best actors you can find today in the British and Hollywood film industry.  I don't think they do this movie for monies, but to take part in this firm to tell auidence a good story.  This movie will last for many decades.

IMDb rates this movie 7.4 out of 10 and I agree (I actaully will give it 11 out of 10 myself).  In a 124 minute long movie, the movie touches issues like aging population and issues surrounding widow, aging & retirement (and how they deal with the second part of their life), outsourcing of customer service to India (call centres), British and India's culture difference and British's love of Indian culture (shared passion of cricket), and Indian cast and arranged marriage issues, NHS's poor service and most of all, love.  What surprises me is that the movie has so much rich in content and so much to tell, yet the movie flows sensitively and elegantly in harmony.

British knows how to make movies of this type.  If you watched and loved "Love Actually", then you know what I'm talking about.  A movie that involved a large of number of characters, characters cast in the movie might directly or indirectly associate with one and another and somehow their affairs all link along the same storyline.  Love Actually: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0314331/ I was googling the right techinal term for this type of movie but cannot find it.  If you know, please tell me.

Maggie Smith is funny, witty and playing quite a down to earth British old lady in the movie.  I love it and she is so adorable.  Maggie Smith's Muriel Donnelly is a lady requring hip replacement, with not much tolrence of any non British food, culture and people.  It is so funny to see how she had to deal with the challenges of traveling to India and deal with everything foreign.  She said to Bill Nighy's Douglas Ainsile in the bus that she does not eat anything she cannot pronounce.  Actually, I heard a friend of mine using the same phrase couple of times.  Smashing and spot on!!

Tom Wilkinson's Graham Dashwood is a very amazing character with deepest sorrow.  Tom is able to play the character well with a light mixture of sorrow and light hearty laughters.  Graham played cricket with a group of street kids when he was searchig for his male lover.  Graham shows great passion and sorrow for his love and when Graham confessed his love to Evelyn (Judi Dench) in the hotel <- it was actually very loving and moving. A great act overall.  He makes remarks like "I'm a gay in theory more than in practice" and I thought it was very nicely said.

After finding his lover and knowing that his lover enjoys life and still loves him, he sit on a haning chair and passed away (due to heart condition).  I thought it was a beautiful departure.

Celia Imrie's Madge Hardcastle is delightfully funny too.  I love her when she said over a bar that she is single by choice (just not her choice).  My wife and I both laughed out loud right there.

Judi Dench's Evelyn Greensalde is smashing.  I feel for her when she had to deal with Indian call centre (after her husband passed away).  If you live in Britain like me, you are bound to enter into conversation like that once in your life time.  It is just unfortunate that she had to deal with this when she is not the acccount holder!!! I think it is classic that she ends up having her first job as a trainer and train call centre employees in India how to answer phone calls.  How classic can it be? 11 out of 10.

Bill Nighy's Douglas Ainslie is a typical British male in their pensioner state.  "Will it make any difference if I said sorry" Douglas said.  I laughed <- although my wife didn't understand why I laughed.  I bet most of men (male) can associate with Douglas.  Also not every man is expected to be handy (for fixing anything and everything)!! I love it when he offered to 'not' fix the chair in Evelyn's room or stating the phone is "as good as new", I thought it is quite charming! Well done, Bill!

Fantastic movie and this movie will last decades.

Love Actually**

Hollywood also attempted to reproduce British's success and made several films like this in the past, such as New Year's Eve http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1598822/ and Valentine's Day http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0817230/ and to be honest, these movies were try-hard but not-so-convincing movies.
